Nuutrino is a nutrition diary. You photograph or describe a meal, and the app estimates its calories and macronutrients so you can keep a record over time. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, who else processes it, how long it is kept, and how to remove it.
The short version. Nuutrino stores the account you create and the food you log. Meal photos and descriptions are sent to Google to be analysed. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking services in the app at all — nothing about your behaviour is sent anywhere for measurement or marketing, and your data is never sold. Deleting your account permanently deletes your data, including your photos.
Nuutrino is an independent app operated by its sole developer. For questions about this policy or your data, see the Support page.
Only what the app needs to function. There is no hidden collection beyond this table.
| Category | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Your email address, and an account identifier. If you sign in with Apple or Google, you are identified through them; Nuutrino never sees your Apple or Google password. | To create your account and sign you in. |
| Profile | Display name, calorie and macronutrient goals, and any optional goal, target weight or dietician name you choose to enter. | To personalise targets and the app's summaries. |
| Meals | Date, meal type, your description, the estimated calories, carbohydrates, protein and fat, the identified food items, and the analysis returned for the meal. | This is the diary — it is the product. |
| Meal photos | Photographs you take or select of your meals. | To estimate nutrition from the photo, and to show the meal in your history. |
| Favourites & weight log | Meals you save for reuse; weight entries with an optional note and date. | Features you choose to use. Both are optional. |
| AI insights & usage | Generated summaries of your logging patterns, and a per-request record of how many AI analyses your account has run. | To show insights, and to enforce fair-use limits and control costs. |
The app asks for camera access so you can photograph a meal, and photo library access so you can pick an existing picture. Both prompts appear only when you first use the relevant feature, and you can decline or revoke them in iOS Settings. If you decline, you can still log meals by typing a description. Nuutrino only ever receives the individual images you select — it does not browse or index your photo library.
Nuutrino uses three service providers. It does not sell or rent your data to anyone, and there are no advertising or data-broker relationships.
| Provider | What they receive | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Everything listed in section 2. Supabase hosts the database, file storage, authentication and server functions that run the app. | Hosting and storage on Nuutrino's behalf. |
| Google (Gemini API) | When you analyse a meal: the meal photo, the meal type, any description you typed, and your stated goal. When you generate an insight: a summary of your recent logging. Your email address and account identifier are not sent. | Performs the nutrition estimate and writes the insight text. |
| Apple | If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and returns an identifier. Apple also distributes the app and, for beta testing, operates TestFlight. | Sign-in and app distribution. |
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies: Supabase, Google, and Apple.
Nuutrino keeps your data for as long as your account exists. It is not deleted on a timer.
One honest limitation. Deleting an individual meal removes the meal from your diary, but its photo currently remains in storage. Deleting your account removes every photo. Automatic clean-up of photos belonging to deleted meals is a known gap and is being fixed; this notice will be updated when it is. We would rather state this plainly than imply a practice the app does not yet perform.
In the app, open Settings → Delete Account and confirm. This permanently and irreversibly deletes:
There is no recovery period and no archived copy — once deleted, the data is gone. If you cannot reach the in-app control for any reason, contact us via the Support page and we will delete the account for you.
Traffic between the app and its servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Data is stored on Supabase's managed infrastructure, and database access rules are configured so an account can only read and write its own rows. Sign-in requires a confirmed email address. No system is perfectly secure, and Nuutrino cannot guarantee absolute security.
Nuutrino is not directed to children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and it will be removed.
You can access your data at any time inside the app, correct it by editing an entry, export your history from the app, and delete everything using Settings → Delete Account. Depending on where you live — for example under GDPR in the UK and EEA, or the CCPA in California — you may have additional rights to request a copy of your data or object to its processing. Nuutrino does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any right, contact us via Support.
Nuutrino's providers operate globally, so your data may be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will be updated and the change will be described here. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
